A Message from Mayor's Office of LGBTQ Affairs, DHS, Latin American Youth Center and The Wanda Alston Foundation</div><div style="margin-top: 20px"><div style="margin: 20px 10px;font-size: 15px;line-height: 22px;font-weight: 400;text-align: left;"><p>Dear community partners:</p><p>A Message from Mayor's Office of LGBTQ Affairs, DHS, and The Wanda Alston Foundation:</p><p>This knowledge, behavior, and skill building workshop is for DC area youth service professionals, youth serving organizations, DC area shelters and housing providers who may work with LGBTQ homeless youth, to gain knowledge about LGBTQ DC laws, LGBTQ homeless youth legislation, and rights that protect LGBTQ young people who are homeless in the District of Columbia.</p><p>The goal of this workshop is to assist providers to be equipped and empowered to build skills and gain the tools necessary to be culturally flexible and sensitive to the needs of this very marginalized population of youth.</p><p>Key learning objectives include:</p><p>1. DC Homeless and Homeless Youth Statistics</p><p>2. Terms and Definitions</p><p>3. Self-Disclosure</p><p>4. Coming Out</p><p>5. Safe Spaces</p><p>6. Youth Bullying Act 2012</p><p>7. Working with LGBTQ Youth Experiencing Homelessness</p><p>8. Suicide and Prevention</p><p>9. Non-Discrimination Policy and Procedure</p><p>10. Inclusive Organizational Culture </p><p>11. Best Practice for Data Collection, Privacy, Storage, and Use</p><p>12. LGBTQ Homeless Youth Reform Amendment Act 2014</p><p>13.
